About Drama Free Horsemanship

I am a foundational trainer.   

I take green-broke horses and put a finish on them.  

A finished horse is ready to move on to the next level of training in other disciplines. 

 

• I'll teach your horse ground manners in the areas of:  

  • round penning​

  • lunging

  • desensitizing to movement, flying objects, touch, and noise

  • flexing:  steady pressure and driving pressure

  • yielding the hindquarters and forequarters

  • backing up

  • sending (through gates, into stalls, into trailers, between obstacles...)

  • leading beside

  • standing patiently while tied 

  • giving feet for cleaning/medicating/trimming

  • safe behavior at feeding time

• I'll teach your horse riding skills in the areas of:

  • standing still for saddling and bridling​

  • standing still for mounting and dismounting

  • standing still and waiting for the rider's cue (beginning, middle, and end of ride)

  • flexion:  lateral and vertical​

  • stopping: with one rein, with two reins, and off my seat

  • maintaining a gait and transitions between gaits

  • maintaining a direction; changing direction, and bending off leg pressure

  • yielding the hindquarters from a standstill and at the walk, trot, and canter

  • backing
